PwC Maurice Elevates Staff to Meet Rising Demand for Tech and Risk Services

Professional services firm expands leadership to strengthen African advisory capabilities

PwC Maurice has promoted a cohort of professionals to Partner and Senior Associate Director positions across its service lines, a move the firm says reflects its drive to meet accelerating client demand for expertise in technology transformation, risk management and cross-border advisory work.

Anthony Leung Shing, Country Senior Partner at PwC Maurice, framed the appointments as part of a deliberate strategic direction. “Our ambition is to make PwC Maurice a reference platform connecting Mauritius, Africa and PwC’s global network, where talent, sectoral expertise and cutting-edge technologies converge,” he said. “Through our Value in Motion strategy, we are evolving our collaboration methods, accelerating artificial intelligence adoption and strengthening our capacity to support clients through their most strategic transformations.”

Central to that strategy is what the firm calls the “One Africa” approach, designed to increase talent mobility, knowledge sharing and closer collaboration across territories, teams and service lines. The framework allows PwC Maurice to combine local expertise with continental African sectoral knowledge and the capabilities of PwC’s worldwide operations, positioning the firm to address client challenges in transformation, growth and innovation.

The most senior of the new appointments is Pieter Hough, currently Head of Audit for PwC Africa, who has joined the partnership of PwC Maurice as Partner and Head of Audit for Africa and Mauritius. Hough brings more than 25 years of experience as a Partner within the PwC network, including work in South Africa. His appointment is intended to strengthen collaboration and integration across the PwC Africa network from the Mauritius base.

Several other professionals have also reached Partner status. Raj Ghunowa became a Partner effective January 1, 2026, as did Neelen Veerapen, who also achieved Partner status on January 1 of that same date. Goolnarr Bhugaloo was appointed Partner in Consulting, with a focus on organizational technology development and artificial intelligence initiatives.

Meanwhile, a number of Senior Associate Director appointments round out the leadership changes. Anneria Bender was named Senior Associate Director of Assurance, Risk and Quality. Faheem Auliar, appointed Senior Associate Director of Assurance, expressed commitment to developing future talent and strengthening synergies with PwC Africa. Jeffrey Koo, also Senior Associate Director of Assurance, said he looks forward to deeper contributions to teams and clients as he continues his development within the firm.

Karen Cha Sow King was appointed Senior Associate Director of Assurance and brings more than 10 years of PwC network experience, including work with clients in financial services, telecommunications, hospitality and real estate sectors. Pearl Koon, similarly appointed Senior Associate Director of Assurance, said she approaches the role with enthusiasm and humility, emphasizing her belief that PwC’s strength lies in its ability to collaborate across borders, pool expertise and deploy diverse talent in service to clients.

Ishta Jhurry was named Senior Associate Director of Mergers and Acquisitions. She joined PwC in 2018 as a Manager in the Transactions division. Gavin Ramen was appointed Senior Associate Director of Internal Functions, Information Technology, and currently leads Enterprise Architecture, Tech Risk and Compliance as well as Data Governance and Quality functions across PwC Africa.

By elevating professionals with deep African experience and global network connections, PwC Maurice is signaling its intention to serve as a bridge between local market knowledge and international capability. Whether the expanded leadership structure translates into measurable gains in cross-border advisory work across the continent remains the test ahead.
