Corrections Policy — Port Louis Daily Bulletin (Mauritius)

Port Louis Daily Bulletin is committed to accuracy, fairness and transparency in our reporting. When we make a significant factual error, we correct the story promptly, explain what changed and why, and keep a public record of corrections. Minor edits for grammar, formatting or clarity that do not alter meaning may be made silently.

How to report an error

Please report errors by either: - Email: [email protected]
- Our contact form: https://ortlouisdailybulletin.com/contact/

When reporting, include the article URL, a clear description of the error, any supporting documentation or sources, and a preferred contact method. You may report anonymously; we encourage a contact name and email to help us follow up.

Internal review process

  1. Acknowledgement — We aim to acknowledge correction requests within one business day.
  2. Preliminary assessment — A corrections editor reviews the claim and assigns it for investigation.
  3. Verification — Reporters, editors and, where appropriate, independent sources are consulted to verify facts and context.
  4. Decision — The corrections editor, in consultation with senior editorial staff, determines whether a correction, clarification, update or retraction is required.
  5. Publication — If a change is required, we prepare a clear correction notice and publish it with the article and in our corrections log.
  6. Follow-up — We notify the person who reported the error of the outcome if contact information was provided.

Where corrections appear

  • The corrected article is updated and carries a visible correction note (or editor’s note) stating what changed, why, and when the change was made.
  • A brief entry linking to the corrected story is added to this Corrections page or to our corrections log for public record.
  • If the original error was widely shared on social media, we will post a correction or clarification on the same platforms when practicable.

Timelines

  • Acknowledgement: within one business day.
  • Simple factual errors (once verified): corrected within 48 hours of verification.
  • Complex investigations: may take up to 14 days; we will update reporting parties on progress.
  • Publication of a correction note: within 24 hours of the decision to correct.

We do not remove articles from the public record except in narrow circumstances (legal requirement, safety or privacy risks). Retractions are reserved for cases where the central thrust of a story is materially false.

We welcome readers’ help in keeping our reporting accurate. Your vigilance strengthens journalism in Mauritius and across our community.
